The finest green coffee beans are blended by Allanason’s in India to a simple, but classic, recipe, then roasted by our supplier to create a thick, sweet, rich espresso which attributes its name to the fantastic striped crema, which resembles a tiger’s coat, on the top of the prepared espresso.

Brewing Hints: Designed for espresso, but works really well in a cafetiere or filter
Roast Depth: Full-medium roast.
Origin: The Mysore District of India.
Characteristics: Thick, sweet and rich.
Serving Suggestions: A perfect, tasty espresso at any time of the day.
Columbian_Medillin_Excelso-9887Colombian Medellin Excelso

The rich volcanic soil in which Colombian Medellin Excelso Coffee grows produces a coffee that is very well balanced in aroma, acidity and body.

Brewing Hints: Brew for 3 – 4 minutes in a cafetiere
Roast Depth: Medium Roast Coffee
Origin: This coffee is contributed to by literally hundreds of thousands of smallholders throughout Colombia. The Colombian Government is very strict about what is exported, and so Medellin Excelso is a good quality, consistent coffee.
Characteristics: Well balanced in aroma, acidity and body. Very popular!
Serving Suggestions: Drink at any time of day or evening

Arguably one of the best coffees there is! AA generally designates the largest bean size, which is considered by many to be a sign of quality.

Brewing Hints: Brew for 3-4 minutes in a cafetiere or in a filter machine. Kenya coffees don’t like to stand on hotplates for long!
Roast Height: Full-Medium Roast
Origin:Mount Kenya near Nairobi
Characteristics: A full-bodied richness with a pleasing acidity and ‘snap’ in its aftertaste.
Serving Suggestions: Drink at any time of the day! A very good quality drink.
Kenya_Peaberry-9892Kenya Peaberry

Peaberry is when one coffee bean grows inside a cherry instead of two. Because the rounder shape minimizes sharp edges, it allows the berries to roll about in the roasting chamber more easily and roast slightly more evenly resulting in a very consistent flavour to the coffee.

Brewing Hints: Brew for 3 – 4 minutes in a cafetiere or use a filter machine. Don’t allow to stand on a hotplate too long
Roast Depth: Medium Roast
Origin: Mount Kenya near Nairobi
Characteristics: A full-bodied richness with a sharp, striking, rich chocolately aftertaste
Serving Suggestions: Drink at any time of day, ideally with milk.

Tea

We sell  3 varieties of loose  tea as well as English Breakfast tea and Gourmet tea in boxes.

Small Leaf Assam

The tea growing area of Assam, which extends along both sides of the Brahmaputra River in Northern India, is one of the largest tea growing areas in the world.

Brewing Hints: Brew for three to four minutes
Leaf: Pekoe Fannings
Origin: Deckiajuli Tea Estate, Northern India
Characteristics: Rich, Strong and Fragrant. Assam Teas are often constituents in traditional English Breakfast Blends
Serving Suggestions: Ideal at breakfast time! Assam teas are usually enjoyed with milk.
Rwanda

The quality of the tea grown in Rwanda is among the best in the world and our Rwandan Teas are excellent, possessing all the desirable qualities tea should have. We purchase our Rwanda Tea from the Gisovu tea estate.

Brewing Hints: Infuse for three to four minutes in freshly boiled water
Leaf: Pekoe Fannings (Small Leaf)
Origin: Gisovu Estate, Rwanda
Characteristics: A bright golden coloured liquor with a distinctive, high quality flavour.
Serving Suggestions: An excellent all-day tea.
Earl Grey

Earl Grey is a hugely popular tea. We use only 100% natural Bergamot Oil and an equally high quality Chinese base tea, which results in a significantly superior Earl Grey Tea.

Brewing Hints: Infuse in freshly boiled water for three to five minutes
Leaf: Large, black Leaves
Origin: Anhui Province, China
Characteristics: A light coloured infusion flavoured with Oil of Bergamot posessing a delightful citrus flavour.
Serving Suggestions: Enjoyed with or without milk and as accompaniment to lemon flavoured and creamy cakes and desserts
